Farmers Hub
GS TEN: FarmersHub - A Livestock Marketplace Success Story
At GS TEN, we take pride in turning ideas into reality, and one of our flagship projects is FarmersHub—a comprehensive marketplace for livestock trading. With over 100,000+ downloads on the Google Play Store, FarmersHub has grown to become a trusted platform for livestock farmers, connecting buyers and sellers across different regions. This project showcases our expertise in building end-to-end solutions from scratch, tailoring them to meet client requirements while ensuring scalability and seamless user experiences.
The challenge
FarmersHub started with a simple yet ambitious idea from our client: to create a marketplace that would make livestock trading easier and more accessible to farmers. They came to us with their vision, and GS TEN transformed that idea into a powerful web and mobile app, catering first to the Pakistan market and later expanding internationally.
Phase 1: From Concept to Reality
We started the project by focusing on the UI/UX design in Figma, creating a beautiful and intuitive interface that made navigating the platform easy for users. Once the design was ready, our development team took charge, building both the website and mobile app from the ground up.
Our initial tech stack included:
- Web : React.js, Node.js, MongoDB
- Mobile App : Java (for Android)
In the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) phase, we implemented key features such as:
- User Registration/Login with phone number verification
- Ad Postings for buying and selling livestock
- Ad Activity tracking
- User Profiles to manage activity and settings
- A Community Section where users could share ideas, post comments, and interact
We launched the platform with a focus on the Pakistan market, and within the first 2-3 months, FarmersHub had gained tremendous traction, hitting 50,000+ users in just 6 months. It became clear there was a huge market demand for a livestock marketplace, and FarmersHub filled that gap.
Phase 2: Expanding and Adapting to New Markets
As FarmersHub grew, we set our sights on expanding the app beyond Pakistan, focusing on the Canadian market. However, a major challenge arose: while FarmersHub was initially built natively for Android, a large number of users in North America preferred iOS.
GS TEN proposed a hybrid solution to overcome this challenge. We decided to rebuild the mobile app from scratch using:
- React Native for cross-platform compatibility (iOS and Android)
- Node.js and MongoDB for the backend
This hybrid approach allowed us to target a broader user base while ensuring that existing users on the Android app and website experienced no disruptions. During the transition, we kept the Android app live on the Play Store and continued supporting the website, ensuring a seamless experience for users while we worked on the hybrid app.
In the second phase, we added advanced features such as:
- Escrow Payment Services: This feature enabled secure transactions where payments were held by FarmersHub until buyers received their livestock. Once confirmed, payments were released to the sellers with a 5% transaction fee— a significant revenue stream for FarmersHub.
Within 5 to 8 months after the hybrid app launch, we continued refining and improving the platform, ultimately reaching 100,000+ downloads and a solid international presence.
Final Outcome:
After two years of development, GS TEN successfully handed over the completed FarmersHub project to the client. The app has become a trusted name in the livestock market, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our team. With this project, we demonstrated our ability to adapt to new challenges, scale rapidly, and deliver robust solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
